What's roooby again?

roooby is a "social image search engine". It scours various feeds for images that have been uploaded and tagged by regular people. Just like you!

And what's the point of that?

It depends. Some people might just want to use it for fun, and hey that's cool with us.

We believe the real power of roooby is communication. A picture speaks a thousand words, and roooby allows you to see what you're looking for. Maybe it's a breaking news story and you want the latest from the scene, or perhaps you're going to a new city and want to look around. You might be researching a project for school or work and need inspiration or a photograph. With roooby, all this and more is possible.

Isn't that like Google image search?

Not really. Google image search is perfect at what it does, but it's not real time.

roooby is live. As soon as the tagged image is uploaded it will show up in the search results. It really is instantaneous!!

That's why we say that roooby is "what the world sees" :)

Where are all these images coming from?

Currently roooby is in beta, and it's grabbing images from hosts like Flic.kr, twitpic and yfrog. FriendFeed is being added soon, which will bring (amongst others) Facebook photos into the mix. That's a lot of photos!

Can I search through images on a particular topic?

Of course! There are lots of different ways to use roooby, so check out the search tips for more advice.

Who is roooby?

That'd be telling! roooby was a brain dump from @richardshepherd, with lots of input from @thekenjones.

You can get in touch on the contact us page. Go on! Make a new friend!

BTW - roooby is pronounced 'ruby'. No one is quite sure what it means ;)
